FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Questions, Answered
WHAT IS THAI MASSAGE?
Through stretching, pulling, tapping, and rocking - thai massage relieves tension, eases chronic pain, enhances flexibility, and stimulates circulation and lymphatic drainage.
Using my hands, knees, legs, and feet I move and massage the client through a few yoga like poses and stretches that increase range-of-motion and leave them feeling relaxed with a fresh boost of energy.
While the client relaxes needing only to breathe they will passively receive what has been referred to as a "moving meditation."
It has been called the "lazy mans" yoga because the receiver can gain a lot of the benefits of yoga without knowing anything about yoga
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY THAI MASSAGE?
Wear clothing that will not restrict movement. I suggest wearing athletic wear like yoga pants, sweats, t-shirt, something comfortable and modest for stretching.
You do not want to eat a large meal before your appointment. A full stomach could make some stretches uncomfortable or have your body preoccupied with digestion.
WHO CAN RECEIVE THAI MASSAGE?
Almost anyone can receive thai massage! If it is difficult for the client to get up and down from the floor, thai massage can be performed on a massage table. Thai massage is versatile and gentle enough for any level of flexibility.
Schedule a thai massage if you:
have chronic pain or limited mobility
want to relax/self care
suffer from depression/anxiety/chronic stress (massage has been known to decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol)
Avoid thai massage (or most massage) and request consultation if you:
have an acute/recent injury or surgeries to heal from (atleast for injured areas)
currently have a fever/recovering from an illness
have high blood pressure, diabetes, osteporosis, or blood clots
THE HISTORY AND MYTHOLOGY OF THAI MASSAGE...
Thai Massage is a centuries old body work that is said to have been founded by the physician and friend of Buddha in India some 2,500 years ago. Thai massage made its way from India to Thailand by the migration of buddhist monks.
Thai Massage is a moving meditation and the intention is Metta. Metta is the intent for all beings to be happy. Loving kindness. A universal wish for all sentient beings to do well and live free from pain and suffering.  Metta is one of Buddhisms four sublime states (Love, Compassion, Sympathetic Joy, and Equanimity).Â
It brings me great joy to have a career where I can focus my attention and intentions on relaxation, peace, and kindness.
